The Gundam Parallel Premium: the alt-art cards, not the rarity, are the money
The Gundam Card Game prints every card as a base rarity and as short-printed “parallel” alt-art versions marked + or ++. We took the market price of 1,541 cards across 21 sets and found the rarity symbol is a red herring, the parallel is the whole market.
The rarity symbol is a red herring
A base Legend Rare sounds like the top of the game, but its median is only $1.92. A parallel Common (C+, $7.63) actually out-values it about 4×. The value lives entirely in the parallel alt-art treatment, and it compounds: the double-parallel LR++ trades at a median $774, about 403× the base Legend Rare. If you pull a Gundam card, the +/++ in the corner tells you far more than the rarity letter.
Base rarity vs its parallel
Median price of each base rarity and its +/++ alt-art parallel.
| Base | Base price | Parallel | Parallel price | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | $0.18 | C+ | $7.63 | 42× |
| Uncommon | $0.13 | U+ | $28 | 217× |
| Rare | $0.33 | R+ | $18 | 55× |
| Legend Rare | $1.92 | LR+ | $35 | 18× |
| Legend Rare | $1.92 | LR++ | $774 | 403× |

Method & sources
- We pulled every priced Gundam card (1,541 across 21 sets) via the open tcgcsv.com dataset (TCGplayer market price).
- Per card we used the Normal printing’s price, or the Holofoil price where that is the only one listed; then the median per rarity tier, robust to a few four-figure parallels.
- Gundam is a young game and prices are volatile; treat these as a snapshot, not a fixed valuation.
- TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset. Valued 2026-07-05. Reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records. Reproducible from the open dataset.
FAQ
Are Gundam parallel (+/++) cards worth more?
They are worth almost everything. Gundam prints each card as a base rarity and as "parallel" alt-art versions marked + or ++. Across 1,541 cards, the parallel runs many times its base printing at every tier: a parallel Common (C+) is a median $7.63 versus a few cents for a Common, and the double-parallel LR++ is a median $774 versus $1.92 for a base Legend Rare, about 403×.
Is a Legend Rare valuable in Gundam?
Not on its own. The base "Legend Rare" is the rarest-sounding tier, but its median is only $1.92, a parallel Common (C+, $7.63) actually out-values it about 4×. The value in Gundam is the parallel alt-art treatment, not the rarity symbol. A Legend Rare only commands real money in its LR+ or LR++ parallel.
What is the most valuable Gundam card?
Among cards with a clear scarcity reason, Phoenix Gundam (LR++) and the championship promos (Heero Yuy, Amuro Ray) sit near $1,211-$1,450. A couple of thin, aspirational single listings sit higher but on almost no sales, so we don't treat them as the market. The reliable signal is the tier: the top of the market is LR+ and LR++ parallels of fan-favorite mobile suits, and the double-parallel LR++ is the chase, with a median around $774.
Where does this data come from, and is it reliable?
We took the TCGplayer market price of every Gundam card (Normal printing, or Holofoil where that is the only one listed) via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, then the median per rarity tier (TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, valued 2026-07-05). Gundam is a young game and prices move fast. These are reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records. We never scrape marketplaces and never invent a number; the figures are reproducible from the open dataset.
